Identify the PDF
You can select the text → text-based, convert directly. You cannot → a scan, so run OCR first.
Steps
- PDF tools → PDF to Word;
- Choose editable document rather than image document;
- For scans, run OCR with the right language first.
Fixing layout
- Many text boxes: turn off "keep text box layout" after conversion;
- Broken tables: convert to Excel instead;
- Misplaced headers: fix them once in the header area.
